In the Spotlight
I’ve been fascinated by architecture since childhood, but it took a knee injury—and a transfer to NDSU’s architecture program—to reveal how deeply I connect with design, space, and the creative process. Today, I still love living in Fargo, and my passion for architecture has only deepened.
Since founding RHET Architecture in 2012, the profession has offered countless fulfilling experiences. I’ve served on nonprofit boards, taught as an adjunct professor, lobbied on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and toured remarkable architecture around the world. Perhaps the most formative experience shaping my design philosophy was an academic year studying Modern Nordic Architecture at the University of Oulu in Finland.
One of the greatest rewards of my career today is working alongside family. My wife works part-time as our bookkeeper and HR coordinator, and our son often spends his afternoons in the office, completing his school lessons just a few feet away from me.
